Getting Started
Who is the club for?
Habesha Youth Club is a community soccer club for the Ethiopian and Eritrean community — and anyone who wants to play alongside us. All skill levels are welcome.
Do I need to try out?
No tryouts. Come to a Saturday session, introduce yourself, and join in. We will make sure you feel included from the start.
How does joining work?
Come to a session or two first — those are free. If it feels like a fit, open the registration form on the Join page and settle the club fees (registration, monthly, and team kit). We will walk you through it when you are ready to commit.
Can I contact someone before I come?
Of course. Send us an email at info@habeshayouthclub.org and we will answer any questions you have before your first visit.
Training Day
When do you train?
Every Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Outdoor through most of the year, with some indoor sessions during deep winter.
What should I bring?
Cleats, water, and clothing for the weather. If it is your first time, try to arrive about 15 minutes early.
Where are sessions held?
We train at fields around Ellicott City and Columbia in Howard County, Maryland. The exact park rotates based on availability — check the Schedule page for the latest location each week.
Tournaments & Club Life
Do you play in tournaments?
Yes — we enter local indoor tournaments through the winter (roughly November to February). Saturday regulars are invited into the tournament squad when we sign up for an event.
I have not played in a while. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Many of our players came back to soccer after a break. The sessions are designed so you can ease back in at your own pace.
What is the atmosphere like?
Friendly, competitive, and welcoming. We take soccer seriously but we also make sure everyone feels like they belong.
